The Gene Editors of the Future program has been a truly transformative experience, significantly enriching my understanding of CRISPR/Cas9 technology and its potential to revolutionize healthcare. As a BSc Biological Sciences graduate from the University of Westminster and MSc Clinical Neuroscience graduate from University College London, this program provided me with a unique opportunity to deepen my expertise in gene editing while engaging with a network of like-minded peers and leading experts in the field.

Initially, I assumed that CRISPR tools were too advanced for someone at my academic stage, but the workshop, led by Dr. Kalpana Surendranath and featuring inspiring speakers from institutions like Oxford and Promega, quickly dispelled that notion. The program emphasized that it’s never too early to start learning, empowering scientists at all levels to engage with gene editing technologies. This program celebrated innovation, collaboration, and the ethical considerations integral to advancing healthcare. Participating in the first phase of Gene Editors 2.0 has been best decision I ever made, equipping me with in-silico skills from the CRISPR workflow and boosting my digital competency. These transferable skills, combined with the collaborative and ethical focus of the program, have significantly enhanced my employability and prepared me to excel in both academia and industry. This transformative experience has inspired me to pursue further opportunities in gene editing research and I am forever grateful to have been a part of this amazing opportunity.
