The CRISPR era: Clinical Trials – current and future perspectives

The Centre for Drug Discovery and Development with the Department of Biotechnology jointly organised the Indo-UK Expert Lecture Series-3 on the Topic: CRISPR Clinical trials: Recent advanced and current status in the treatment of human diseases by the invited special guest Prof. John J Murphy BSc, PhD, sFHEA, Professor & Senior Group Leader, University of Westminster (UoW), London, UK. The talk focussed on transformative advancements brought about by CRISPR-Cas9 and related gene-editing technologies and discussed the details of a range of clinical trials.  Professor Murphy provided an in-depth overview of ongoing trials and evaluated the progress made thus far in applying CRISPR to address genetic disorders, cancers, and other diseases.  The talk also explored the challenges faced in translating CRISPR gene editing from laboratory research to clinical applications, including ethical considerations, regulatory hurdles, and technical limitations.
